Missing Information
I would have liked to purchase this item, but there are just too many unknowns. Lots of people love it and lots think it is junk, as with all the compressors I have studied. I was even able to locate SOME of the information that Amazon coyly omitted: The tool weighs 34#. The noise level is 82 dBA (ISO 3744). It does indeed produce 3.5 SCFM but at 40 PSI (duh) by ISO1217. It produces 2.6 SCFM at 90 PSI, which is exactly what you'd expect from it's .8hp 10A motor. The troubling thing for me is the total lack of information about the warranty. Amazon says it's 'factory' reconditioned but they don't actually say it was done at the Black & Decker/DeWalt/Delta/Devilbiss/Porter Cable factory, and I have bought equipment that was refurbished in a 'factory' that had nothing to do with the manufacturer. When you look at Amazon's warranty info, it is absent. They say to check with the manufacturer. Go to DeltaPorterCable and try to find it. The word 'reconditioned' does not appear on their website or in their warranty documents. One reviewer said that the manufacturer would not honor any warranty since Amazon is not an authorized reseller (though this is not a condition in any of their warranty documents). They have several different warranties and it is not at all clear which one would even apply to this item in new condition. Is is the 'post-2008 warranty', the 'professional tools warranty' or the 'standard' warranty? This is just too tiresome. After reading about Amazon's poor performance when problems arose with this unit, I think I'll pass on this great price and possibly great machine.

Better than expected
For a reconditioned unit, I was pleasantly suprised that the unit looked new! Everything worked as it should and the unit is very powerful and recharges quickly. They couldhave packaged it better, but it made it ok...

Reconditioned Porter-Cable Pancake Compressor
I purchased the above Pancake Compressor and the 13- piece accessory kit.. I have utilized it 1X so for...and love it... I plan on using it extensively later in the fall in my shop...and I do feel it is exactly what I need to do my all my wood working requirements. The compressor cut-off and operated as prescribed. I am excited and hope that it will provide me many hours of free maintenance. I do feel that the factory-reconditioned is as good as a new one..especially since it carries the same warranty as a new one.

Amazing!
This is a great product and a great deal! I was so amazed when I received this item and took it out of the box. It has unbelievable features and power. We used it right away with our Porter Cable nailer and stapler and expected it to recycle at least once while we installed over 200 wood planks in our laundry room. Not a peep and our nail gun seemed to work smoother than before. Recommend this to anyone and it saved us $80 and we didn't have to deal with the shenanigans at Home Depot!

Good Value good performance - Better than older model
I purchased the C2002 WKR to replace a well used 10 year old Porter cable CF2600 120 psi 6 gallon compressor, which was overheating. With the exception of being packaged in a plain brown box (instead of the new model box printed white and red), and the small refurbished sticker on the compressor housing, my unit appears to be brand new. The box arrived in great shape with no dents or marks. I looked at a new C2002 at a big box store and it appears the plain brown refurbished box is slightly heavier than the printed new box, which is good thing if are buying on line and having it shipped. What I like - The oversized handle on top is a great improvement over the single sided grab pocket on the old CF2600 - The second air port is a great addition as It allows two guns to be plugged in and used at the same time. - My model unit came with an accessory kit containing a 25' air hose and fittings so no need to go by a hose for the second air port.. - There are features on the side of the pump housing for winding up the cord, and there is a cord clip molded into the plug. No more dangling wires during transport. - There is a cover over the pressure gages and manifold - The cord on my CF2600 would occasionally snag on the unprotected gauges. - The unit is slightly lighter than the CF2600 it is replacing. - The 150 psi capacity with 120 psi recharge pressure means my framing nailer in particular can run for a long time. I was applying OSB sheathing to a roof ( nailing ever 8" bang, bang, bang). By the time the air pressure got down to where the nails were not fully seated, it was time to stop and reload nails anyway. Note I run with the single shot sequential trigger. If running with the faster bump fire trigger, the compressor might not be able to fully keep up. - Looking thru the slats in the pump housing I can see that Porter Cable has added internal ducts / baffles to improve the air flow of the cooling fan. My old unit was basically an open box with a fan at one end. On this new unit I can definitely feel a forced flow of hot air coming out the back compared to the more gentle flow on the old one.
Other comments. - There is a warning label on the unit which says remove compressor from service (or replace tank) 10 years after date of purchase. Reason given is "Risk of Bursting. Water will condense in the air tank. If not drained, water will corrode and weaken the air tank causing a risk of air tank rupture". Owners manual instructs "Drain air tank daily or after each use." : Realistically speaking even purging tank after each use won't get out 100% of the water, so after ten years it is probably a good idea to retire the unit. Thus if the service life is only 10 years, saving the extra $$$ by buying a refurbished unit makes sense.
Very happy with the performance so far.

One of the best household tools I've gotten!
Who would think that having a compressor would make such a big difference in a person's life, but it has. I've used this little compressor to clean my computer, clean smoke alarms (they go mad when dust or a little bug gets stuck in them) and the obvious maintain car's tire pressure. For me being able to put air in my tires at home makes this compressor worth having. The hassle of using a commercial compressor with their timers and wonky hoses is enough to make you go mad, especially when you're in a dress and heals! I once spent several dollars just to fill two tires. If you're fortunate to find a free compressor, there is usually something wrong with it and it comes with a line of waiting vehicles with impatient drivers. The first time I put air in my tires at home, I felt such relief.
As a previous reviewer noted the hose is on the cheap side, but for household stuff it works just fine. There is a fine assortment of nozzles too. The compressor is easy to maintain, instructions and warnings are clearly written. I purchased this compressor almost a year ago and waited until now to write a review. Wanted to see if something bad about it would come up with use, it hasn't. My Porter-Cable compressor is one of my favourite tools!

Quit working
Had this compressor for about 5 weeks and it quit pumping over 50 psi. Still kept running but would not get up past 50. Sent it in for warrenty work a couple weeks ago and have heard nothing.
Rating :
Great convenience
It's nice to have an air source that has some depth. The last pump I had was only 2 gal and took forever to come to pressure. This one comes up to a higher pressure fast and the 6 gal tank gives me plenty of reserve to unplug the compressor and take it out to the car for tire inflation. Great for blowing off stuff - the 150 psi keeps the volume going.

More powerful than expected but absurdly, absurdly loud.
I purchased this for some projects around the house, but unfortunately I had to return it due to the excessive noise level. Let me tell you how loud this is: so loud that you can not use it early in the morning or after dark because it would be that rude to the neighbors. My neighbor's houses are each about 20 yards away from my house, but 20 yards is still much too close fort this beast. It is not only eardrum-piercing loud (my ears hurt for 3 days afterward) but it has a throbbing bass (similar to one of those car stereos they have in the hood) which makes a rumbling noise that carries for at least 50 yards. To use this at 1:00AM (which at times I wanted to) even inside the house would wake up the neighbors. Folks, it is that loud. I did follow the break-in procedure, incidentally, but I don't think it has an effect on the loudness of this machine.
As far as the power goes, I found it to exceed expectations in this regard. It is quite powerful for something that is sold as an amateur grade or entry level compressor.
Regarding the accessory kit, I don't know what the other folks are talking about; this is a nice quality little kit. It is not junk at all.
Bottom line, this is a very capable machine and if I worked 9-5 on a jobsite I would not hesitate to get it, but I wanted to do some renovations in the house with it at odd hours and it is simply too loud for this. Even if I wore earmuffs it would keep my neighbors up and I'm just not going to do that. Anyway, again I had to return this for that reason so I will now look more seriously at the Makita and DeWalt offerings which are apparently quieter. We'll see.

Porter-Cable C2002 Air Compressor
Never owned an air compressor before. This small unit is perfect for my small garage workshop. The accessories are NOT of a high quality; I would have preferred a few more higher quality and more useful accessories. But I'd purchased this unit again. The price and performance produced a valued tool for my woodworking area.

Solid machine. Packaging obviously upgraded
Regarding shipping damage: I understand via other reviews that appropriate packaging for this unit have been lacking in the past. However, I concur with the most recent of reviews, that there appears to have been an upgrade of the packaging because my experience with this purchase was very good. The packaging protected the item well and it arrived in excellent condition.
Manual/Instruction: Lacking. You not going to get much our of the book in terms of setup/initial assembly. But its pretty basic stuff and easy enough to figure out.
Performance: Excellent. The weight is an acceptable trade off for the good quite performance. It is as quiet as any I've heard yet very efficient. Charges quickly and is an all around solid unit. I'm glad I went for it. I did find the power cord too short. I installed a longer custom power cord and hubble end. I also bought the goodyear hose which is of excellent quality.

Great compressor, no damage in shipping, directions vague.
We ordered ours on Aug 2, received it Aug 12 by Fedex. Before we ordered, I was concerned about the damage many had reported in the shipping process. I decided to call Amazon to see if they had addressed this. Amazon's call center really is not connected with the 12 major shipping warehouses around the U.S. and really couldn't tell me if they had changed anything. I figure they would have since you don't make much of a profit having items returned frequently. They did say they sold a lot of these units and they actually stock the items rather than have the manufacturer ship them out.
So I called Makita's call center and once again they are no where near the warehouses and hadn't a clue. After waiting for return call from them and getting the run around they told me they called the warehouse and said yes they did change their packaging. Couldn't tell me how (to verify). It felt like their call center consisted of two guys and not that impressed with them.
Did try to track this unit down at Home Depot and Lowes and anyone else in Portland Oregon area but no one stocks these. Special order only and we needed the item now. So relented and took my chances with Amazon.com. I hope they are listening that when the reviews are poor about shipping even if the price is low many will look elsewhere to avoid the hassle.
After I ordered the compressor I did talk with Amazon.com again, they have a "tool dept" and asked them if there is a way to request better packaqing for the unit. No. Even if I had wanted to pay like $145.00 for two day delivery (which I didn't) it was not available for this item as well. Since this supervisor in the tool dept works closely with buyers I did make a pitch for the fact that Amazon.com has to be selling a significantly large share of these compressors since no one else in this area was or stocked them. My guess is Amazon.com has some leverage with manufacturer to get them to improve packaging much like the great packaging Porter Cable does for it's omni jigs. When will tool manufacturers figure out that consumers buy tools online a lot now with competitive pricing and they have to package the units to be shipped individually to with stand damage vs packaging them to go only to brick and morter stores on pallets? So many stores like Home Depot tend to carry fewer power tools and not the best brands or models, so if you need a particular brand and model of a power tool which is rated well you most likely will find it online at a good price. Amazon needs to get more up to speed on this and make sure the items they sell are prepared for arriving without damage to consumer. Yeah there will be the odd time where nothing could prevent damage but too many times Amazon plays dumb on this where as Tools Plus.com repacks their tools so they arrive without damage. Online retailers need to be more proactive than damage reactive.
The unit arrived and the box was in great shape but the oil had leaked inside. No damage was apparent on the compressor. Makita needs to stop the oil leaking issue.
After reviewing the owners manual, it is confusing and vague. The air filter comes in a separate bag with no directions on how and where to install it. We had to hunt to find the information on how much oil to put in it. It said to pour it in until it was in the correct position in the viewing window. We had to search for info about what is the correct position. The correction position is half way in the viewing window.
We ran it through it's initial start up procedure for about 30 minutes and then hooked up a hose and filled the tank with air. We couldn't get the pressure regulator to reduce the pressure before we snapped on the nail gun. It kept going up to 130lbs. We adjusted the regulator and bled air out of the tank but it always went back to l30lbs. Finally we turned the compressor off and bled the tank and restared it and it appears to be working fine. Again the manual was no help in finding out why the pressure was not adjusting properly.
We used it today along with Hitachi 18 gage brad nailer with 1.5" nails to install baseboard trim. It worked great at 100lbs for the mdf baseboard. It was very quiet kept steady pressure and didn't run much. The handle which has a rubber cover with finger grips makes it very easy to pick up and move even though it is a bit heavy. It is easy to get through door ways.
We also bought the Goodyear 50' hose they frequently sell with this and that works great too. We bought the Hitachi NT50AE2 on Amazon and it is light weight and great tool for trim and a bargain at $67.26 cheaper than what Lowes sells it. We did find that Lowes is a great place to find nails for Hitachi nailer compared to our local Home Depot. We also found the hose connectors at Lowes. (Since I posted this review we found more nails at Home Depot but in another section of the store not with the other tools which was poorly thought out by whom ever sets up their stores.)
Overall this is a slick set up for doing trim and molding. We had almost bought a Porter Cable pancake nailer/compressor set for about $230.00 but looked into it further and discovered what a short life span it has. So for about $37.00 more we have a much better compressor and nail gun which will last way beyond the two year life span of the pancake no oil compressors.

I'm Impressed!
First I have to say that my Makita was Fedex delivered without a scratch....box wasn't even marred. Well packed the compressor was without a ding or scratch. This compressor is of high quality. Performs as expected for a smaller type compressor and the recovery time is very good. Heavy yes but you don't get durability with light weight materials in a compressor. This unit is almost too pretty to take to a dirty work site. The noise level is very quiet...I sold my 4 gal 15amp Makita because it was very loud and if it didn't trip the breakers all the time it sure did dim the lights on start up.....can't have that in a customers home. Overall the Mac700 is a very nice compressor, it should give me what I need on the job site and last a long time (oil lubed) I also have a smaller Senco for my finish and pin nailers. I would recommend the Makita Mac700 for professional use and home owners as well.

the makita is a brute...
after visual inspection from the fedex drop off at my house, box was in good condition as was the unit. no scrapes dings or breakage. i have not seen the earlier units that some reviewers say had the shroud cracked, but the plastic shrouding is substantially thick and appears to be made of a softer type plastic of some combination of pvc and resins and flexes quite well. i don't know if it has been changed, but if it is cracked the unit had to have been handled very poorly by the shipping company. i filled with oil to the red mark on the inspection window, opened the drain valve and ran unit for 25 mins. i let it cool for a bit then started the compressor, closed drain valve and let pressure build up in 10 lb increments before opening the valve to purge air. after 10 mins of this building up to the cut out point, i turned unit off and changed the oil. this is good practice when breaking in a cast iron, oil filled compressor. the pressure build in increments helps seat the rings after its been through the standard break in period. this is one of the most important phases of a compressor for longgevity. along with a quality oil. at this time i added 2" wheels to the switch side of the legs and compressor rubber dampening pads to the other. not only does it make it a total of 3" taller to grip the handle, but very easy to roll around quickly. think of it rolling sideways. this was needed due to the tank ends would drag on the ground if not. i have modified a older 6 gallon tank that use to be under a loud oilless compressor if i need more air storage. i removed the motor and compressor and have just the tank. to this i added fittings (input and output quick connects, regulator and saftey valve)to plumb in line with the makita, for a total of 9 gallons. but after seeing how fast the tank on the makita fills, i may only need it for a portable tank for filling tires etc. this makita mac700 looks bulletproof. time will tell. but i as many have read the reviews here on amazon and elsewhere, and they do speak for themselfs.

Best little compressor I have found
I use this compressor for remodel work and it is fantastic. Clients love it because it is QUIET on the job. It is well built, reasonably priced and reliable. Air volume is even adequate to hopper gun wall texture. It is heavy and you must tie it up for travel as due to design it will topple over the first turn you make, but this is the compressor I take to the jobs (I also have a Porter Cable pancake, Binks hot dog and a larger Campbell Hausfeld). I have even had customers buy this unit after using it at their homes. I also have the larger 2.5 HP MAC2400 that I use at my shop and it is also fantastic, just bigger, heavier and more air volume.

Nice, but slightly damaged
I did a lot of reading reviews before buying it and was amazed at the consistant comments about damage "during shipping". Mine arrived dented on the front between the gages, however it was nothing that caused any malfunction, so I realy don't care much, EXCEPT...I honestly believe the company shipped me a compressor that had prior damage. There was NO damage to the shipping box what so ever, so it had to be placed in the box that way. I think somebody knew they were doing it, and that's proabably how they can sell them cheaper than other companies. About the compressor: it runs quiet, no leaks, gages and regulator are good, heavily built. Great for inflating tires, using nuematic tools etc., but NOT good for using a blowing tip (even a small one) to clean off mower decks, blow out engine air filters, etc, because there is not enough volume in those small tanks and the pressure drops quickly and I have to wait for it to build up again.

A Rock Solid Performer
I purchased this compressor over three years ago through Amazon and have been completely satisfied with it.
First, understand that this is not a toy. Solid steel construction, a protective cage and durable components bulk this up into the heavy weight class. That said, the unit is exceptionally quiet and very durable. From the time I purchased it, I have done nothing but add the oil, turn it off and on, and drain the tank.
Several design features make this a pleasing product: 1) The compressor is effectively protected by the tanks and the solid roll cage. I haven't dropped this thing, but I'm confident it would survive. 2) Frequently used features are mounted conveniently on the front panel. The pressure gauges, two universal hose fittings and presure regulator dial are right there in front of you. The on/off lever is located conveniently off to the side where it is protected. The pressure relief valve is located at the bottom of the lower tank and features a convenient lever control. Finally, when you do have to heft this thing around, the integrated, centrally located handle offers a relatively balanced grip.
I've used this with nail guns, staplers, air guns and paint sprayers. The only adjustment I've ever had to make is with the pressure regulator. My larger upright compressor sits abandoned in the corner. For home shop applications I would advise purchasers to build an Air Compressor Caddy such as the one featured in ShopNotes #60. (I've uploaded a photo of my blinged out version to the photo section) It makes life much easier.

Great compressor
I bought this compressor to remodel an old house and I need to run all kinds of air tools from nailers (mostly) to sanders to whatever... It is a source of power on the job-site.
Many others here have given great kudos to this fine machine and I am one of them. It is very quiet and powerful. It will not paint your car or run an air sander, but it will run most any other nail gun or other tool you have (rated at 4cfm or less). What I like about this tool is that it gives you two connections on the front panel, so I can run two tools at once.
It is heavy! Has a handle for one handed carry and if you are the incredible hulk, you might pull that off. Some say it weighs 80 lbs, but it feels like more, it is a beast! Course, I wouldn't trade the weight for a lighter, poorer made compressor, the weight is just what you have to deal with if you want this nice machine.
Amazon is a great retailer, but read the fine print. This compressor has oil in it and because of that, it is NOT RETURNABLE! I had a problem and needed to return mine and hit a brick wall. Finally, after working my way up the food chain at amazon, a very amiable resolution was made. But buyer beware, the fine print says that this compressor is not returnable and they are not kidding. You can pay more at a local store and get local service or take your chances at amazon. I love amazon, but this is not their core market and if you need service, you are going to deal with Makita (not altogether bad).
I have a craftsman compressor that has much more horsepower, bigger tank and a higher cfm, but it only serves as a noise maker and can not keep up with the Makita. The craftsman will be in my next garage sale.
Rating :
Great Value
This is a fantastic value at $300. Extremely solid unit and very quiet. Its heavy, yes, but I find it to be still quite portable. Did I say it was quiet? Recovery time is also excellent. I would match this against any other 4 gallon tank for the money.

Guess what? It was damaged in shipping!
Before accepting the compressor from UPS I took a close look at the carton. Aside from a few scrapes it looked in good shape. I opened the carton and the compressor looked beautiful! When I took it out and removed the plastic cover I did see that the cooling fins were a little mashed on the side, but that looked like something that probably would happen eventually, so I wasn't concerned. I put in the oil, installed the air filter, plugged it in and reached around to open the drain valve before turning it on for the initial break-in run. It was then that I saw that the lower tank was dented on the left end. It probably wouldn't affect the performance but I'm pretty fussy about such things and it was something I wouldn't accept in an expensive brand new tool. Bummer! Amazon wouldn't let me ship it back, but I was satisfied with the adjustment they made for the damage, so I'm glad I bought it from Amazon.com, though next time I'll buy a compressor locally, even if it costs a bit more, and I'll give it a close inspection before I leave the store.
I took a thorough look at the damage and at the carton, and the cause of the damage was obvious! Except for 2 small arrows pointing "up" on the carton, there are no warnings to the shippers about "Fragile" or "This End Up" or "Do Not Drop" or "Keep Upright," etc. I bet that all of this damage was caused by placing the carton with the left side down and perhaps dropping it from few inches or a foot. The roll cage protects the compressor from the top, front and bottom, and the tanks appear less likely to be damaged from the back, but the 2 sides of the compressor are very vulnerable. If dropped on the right side, the switch or right ends of the tanks can get damaged, if dropped on the left side, the air tube/cooling fins, the crankcase or left ends of the tanks can get damaged. Keep the box upright and I doubt if there would have been any damage.
I don't blame UPS, I blame Makita. Either put some warnings on the carton or put a lot of padding on the sides!

The little compress that could
Put an air nozzle on this comp and watch the pressure gauge drop like a drag car burning up gas, about five little squirts with the air nozzle and the pressure is too low, motor comes back on. Super quiet though, you could sleep next to this thing, because they put too tiny a comp on it, takes too long to build pressure back up again. I like the air filter feature but other compressors on the market probably have the same thing. I bought this to blow my gun parts dry after cleaning them. If I new this comp was going to run so much I would have gotten the 2 gallon model. This one is only good for blowing dust off your computer or key board.

great
I have been planning for some time to pick up this unit although at first I opted for more horsepower and tank size, I came back to this unit for application as it runs off my power inverter in my vehicle, is extremely quiet and it is very light allowing carry applications to work great with this in smaller jobs. It puts out sufficient air and pressure to meet all of my repair. I am exceedingly pleased with it. It came quickly and for the right price.

I'll stick to my Pancake.
I just used one of these this weekend and when we first plugged it in I was shocked at how quite it was. We needed a compressor to shoot a few framing nails in to hold up support blocks for TigerClaw Deck clips. So really we only needed maybe 4 nails every few min. If you read the product sheet you'll know that this product really isn't recommended for framing. However for this very light application it worked fine. The compressor would kick on after 3 nails, but that was really all we needed. Still impressed at how quite this thing was I came on to Amazon to see how much one of these cost, and while the price isn't horrible it's almost exactly what I paid for my pancake combo kit. So I'm going to pass on this product because a pancake combo kit is a better all around value. Is this product quite... yes.. is it light and compact... pretty much, and it actually performed very well considering what I was using it for, but I can't compare to the value of most pancake compressors. They do pretty much it all and this one just isn't quite the value.I think a better price point a tool with this use is $50 to $75. I might buy it at that price point.

Reliable, light, portable, and efficient.
This compressor was recommended by a friend who was a cabinet maker for an historical museum in Boise, Idaho. He came to NY to visit and help me install kitchen cabinets. The unit worked flawlessly. It easily accommodates various size nails. With his initial instruction, I have used it for years since--for framing, box making, canvas stretching, molding installation, etc. It's never failed. It is reliable, light, and portable. The seals are still tight after 7 years (make sure you relieve the pressure and drain it after every use). I have two attachments: a nailer and a stapler. I will probably get a blower.

Senco is a good Brand but as always remember to test 1st...
I have used these air compressors before and have always liked them especially because of their weight. I mad the mistake of not testing it before I moved to Brazil (arrived last minute while loading container) PROBLEM! Auto shut off doesnt function, tank fills and releases air over and over until it smokes!!! Now I have to find somebody who works on compressors, and pray they can find the parts if needed (or gum and sticks). WEll good luck buyers, most of you have the option of returning it!!

Questions & Answers
Question : what is the best air compressor for both home repairs and heavier work?
I'd like an air compressor that will allow me to do small jobs like a brad nail gun, pump up tires, etc.. Occasionally, I do some larger projects where a nail gun would be nice. However, I don't do that very often. I've looked around on the internet and it is quite confusing. Any suggestions?
Answer:
i would go with craftsman compressors for a start. at least 125 PSI. i have a 12 gallon and i do nail gun jobs all the time with it. i would say either 12 or higher. depends on what you want to spend.

Question : How do i use an air compressor?
im trying to fill up a blow up boat and i know you can use an air compressor to fill it up but i cant remember how?
Answer:
If your air compressor has a service hose, that is the line that you hook your air tools onto, you need an attachment which will be able to inject the air into the boat. Either a tyre pump attachment or if you have one a pistol grip type air blower.Once you are set up with the correct bits the boat will have an air fill valve with either a screw cap over it or a plug.Simply turn your air compressor on to charge the cylinder and stick the filling jobbie into the fill valve and pull the trigger. The boats take a lot of air so your air compressor will kick in and probably keep running untill the boat is inflated. Stop filling every 5 minutes or so and let the compressor fill with air and shut down as the little compressor motors get fairly hot.Happy boating.

Question : What would happen if I hooked up an air compressor to the air intake of my lawn mower?
Just wandering about hooking up a standard air compressor ,like the ones used to pump up bike tyres, to the air intake of my lawn mower and see what would happen.Thanks.
Answer:
You will increase the air pressure on the intake side and then in the combustion chamber, which then will cause over pressure in the chamber and this will loosen the head bolts and cause the head to come off or the mower to shut down. Not worth the cost of a new lawn mower.

Question : What kind of air compressor should I buy for spraying automobiles?
What kind of air compressor should I buy for spraying automobiles? Let me know the hp and how many gallons the compressor should have for use in a place like a body shop. Thanks.
Answer:
you need at least a 5.5 hp compressor. I've painted a car with a pancake compressor. I know you've seen the compressors that stand upright, like they're on a dollie. One of these will be fine, don't go buy some 10hp big ass compressor. Use your money to buy a quility paint gun. Look up bink online. They are reasonable.

Question : My air compressor will not fill to maximum capacity, why?
I have a small electric Craftsman air compressor. When I turn it on, it will only fill to about 20 pounds of pressure. Any idea what could cause that?
Answer:
You didn't say if it contiues to run or if it shuts off at 20#.If it shuts off at 20# adjust the regulator, if it continues to run check to see if the drain spigot is closed all the way and check for leaks..

Question : How does this air tank/compressor work?
So I have a 15lb. air tank which has three spiky things that air comes out of or goes into and a pressure gague and a release lever. I need to make it into an air compressor to fire a cannon (theatre thing). I don't have any idea how to power this. There are no plugs or cords or anything! Help, I'm feeling like an idiot.Actually, this is for shooting fake blood across a stage.
Answer:
those tanks are filled at a station that services and rents them, most have heillium for balloons but some are compressed air. they hold a great deal of air. Try a party store for info

Question : How long should it take for a mechanic to replace the air compressor of a 1988 Honda Accord?
The air compressor on my air conditionioner went out (in AZ in the Summer!) and the mechanic quoted me $1200 with parts and labor!! I can get the part for $300.
Answer:
an '88 car is going to have R-12 instead of the the newer R134........that means it is either going to have to be retrofitted or you will pay out the a--- for r-12... R12 is the old "freon" that price is about right for a complete job that will not crap out in a month or two......

Question : How long can an air compressor run a drill?
I was just wondering if they make an air compressor that is efficient enough to run a pneumatic drill constantly without stopping the drill. Or is the amount of air used by the drill and bleed air more than an air compressor can output? If not, which air compressor is the best?
Answer:
depends on the requirements of the drill motor and the capacity of the air compressor.
