| 2.5 HP with Big Bore Engineered Pump The MAC2400 is powered by a 2.5 HP motor. The Makita Big Bore engineered pump with cast iron cylinder has greater bore and stroke for increased compression, faster recovery and less noise. The cast iron construction is engineered for increased durability even under tough job-site conditions. The MAC2400 has an oil-lubricated pump and is equipped with a large automotive style filter for increased air intake and greater efficiency. The Big Bore oil-lubricated pump is also more efficient: the MAC2400 runs cooler and at half the RPM of most competitive units, resulting in greater motor and pump life and lower noise. The 4.2 gallon twin-stacked tank sustains an operating pressure of 130 PSI, and delivers 40PSI (4.8 CFM) and 90 PSI (4.2 CFM), enough for two nailers. The low AMP draw reduces instances of tripped breakers and voltage drop that can cause premature motor failure. The roll bar handle provides portability and additional protection, helping it withstand harsh jobsite environments. Additional features include a convenient oil drain and oil sight glass, a tank drain valve that supersedes standard petcock design for easier maintenance, and finned discharge tubing that dissipates heat more efficiently.Versatile Design for a Range of Applications The MAC2400 is engineered for low noise, high output and less maintenance, and delivers industrial power and results with improved durability under tough job site conditions. The MAC2400 is just another example of Makita's commitment to innovative technology and best-in-class engineering. About Makita Big Bore Air Compressors

Questions & Answers
Question : How much oil is needed for my air compressor for the first time?
I have a MotoMaster 5-gallon air compressor. I need to fill the part with oil so that it is inbetween the red circle. I have already used one bottle, and it is barely half way there. This is my first air compressor, so how much oil do i need to put in for the first time?
Answer:
It depends and it should tell you in the manual. But get more oil and fill it to where it should be and start er up.Happy New Year

Question : What size air line to run for my air compressor?
I recently bought an air compressor to airate my sprinkler system. I have 1 acre of land. Do I use an air fitting with an 1/4 or 1/2 inlet. Also what size air line do I use. I might use it for my air impact tools. I was told not to use 1/2 inlet with my impact guns.
Answer:
Most air tools have a 1/4" inlet. This, along with 3/8" hose is sufficient for most applications including blowing out waterlines. Size of the tank will decide how much air you can put out over a certain period of time.

Question : My air compressor will not fill to maximum capacity, why?
I have a small electric Craftsman air compressor. When I turn it on, it will only fill to about 20 pounds of pressure. Any idea what could cause that?
Answer:
You didn't say if it contiues to run or if it shuts off at 20#.If it shuts off at 20# adjust the regulator, if it continues to run check to see if the drain spigot is closed all the way and check for leaks..

Question : What kind of air compressor can fill up a average nitrogen tank?
I am thinking about getting a nitrogen tank so I can play during the winter. I have a air compressor but i want to know if it could fill it up.
Answer:
no average compressor will be able to fill a nitrogen tank to the pressure that you will want, the most amount of pressure that you would be able to get is around 150

Question : Where do I take an air compressor to get repaired?
I have an air compressor that can't build up any pressure. The pump runs, but the pressure stays near zero. I can't figure out where to take it for repairs. I've called a lawn mower shop, a pump repair shop, and an electrical repair shop. None of them work on air compressors. Any ideas?
Answer:
1 look in owners manual..they have service/repair places listed or # to call2 no book? yahoo/google search the neme brand3 phone book4 unless its a 500+ priced compressor its usually not worth repairing..

Question : How do i use an air compressor?
im trying to fill up a blow up boat and i know you can use an air compressor to fill it up but i cant remember how?
Answer:
If your air compressor has a service hose, that is the line that you hook your air tools onto, you need an attachment which will be able to inject the air into the boat. Either a tyre pump attachment or if you have one a pistol grip type air blower.Once you are set up with the correct bits the boat will have an air fill valve with either a screw cap over it or a plug.Simply turn your air compressor on to charge the cylinder and stick the filling jobbie into the fill valve and pull the trigger. The boats take a lot of air so your air compressor will kick in and probably keep running untill the boat is inflated. Stop filling every 5 minutes or so and let the compressor fill with air and shut down as the little compressor motors get fairly hot.Happy boating.

Question : what is the best air compressor for both home repairs and heavier work?
I'd like an air compressor that will allow me to do small jobs like a brad nail gun, pump up tires, etc.. Occasionally, I do some larger projects where a nail gun would be nice. However, I don't do that very often. I've looked around on the internet and it is quite confusing. Any suggestions?
Answer:
i would go with craftsman compressors for a start. at least 125 PSI. i have a 12 gallon and i do nail gun jobs all the time with it. i would say either 12 or higher. depends on what you want to spend.

Question : what would cause a gas powered air compressor to shut off after filling up with air?
honda 5.5 hp gas engine/emglo compressor/ 17 gal. tank. the compressor starts up with one to two pulls, idles up to fill up with air,but shuts off sometimes after completely filling with air and sometimes before completely filling. It should idle high to fill up then idle down when the air tank is full.
Answer:
Did you check to see if there is any safety shutdown switches installed on that unit? High temp. shutdown, Low oil shutdown or perhaps a High air pressure shutdown. It sounds like your engine is working fine. Going by your description of the problem,my first suspicion would be the high pressure shutdown switch. The adjusting screw might be loose. Or the electrical connections to the switch are loose.

Question : What type of pneumatic nailer and air compressor do I use to install crown molding?
I am putting up crown molding and I want to use a nail gun. I also want to get an air compressor that is not too cheap that I can put in my work shop for future projects. I may do some roofing in the future. What type of air compressor should I get? What type of nail gun for the crown molding? I am on a budget. So I don't want to spend any more than I have to.
Answer:
A small kit cost about $ 200.00 Can, the brad nailer is good enough for crown just use a little liqud nails the brads will hold the crown in place, the nailer should take up to 1.3/4 nails anyway
