Questions & Answers
Question : What value is there in air compressor tank sizes?
If I bought a 2 gallon air compressor or a 200 gallon air compressor, what is the difference, why is it important?I understand that the compressor would have to run more often on a smaller tank, but is this a bad thing?
Answer:
By having the sure volume of air you can operate your tools better, say your blowing out a water sprinkler system, the 2 gallon of air will not do it as theres not enough air to clear the pipes, and the compressor running will not deliver enough volume to do the job, same as an air tool that takes 90 psi to run, having 200 gallons of air will run the tool say 5 min without waiting for more air to run the tool, and the 2 gallon would only turn the tool for say 15-20 seconds before you have to wait for more volume of air to pump up..............

Question : What size/power air compressor do you use to blow out lines on inground pool for winterization?
Last year we used a shop vac on blow, but it's not working on the return jet for some reason. We'd like to buy an air compressor for that and just to have around the garage. What size/power or whatever they are measured in is required to blow out the lines for a pool? They are about 20-30 feet long. And how do you create a seal over the pipe to blow them out? When we had someone close the pool 2 years ago, they had the end of the compressor hose go into a rubber cork like thing that they put right into the pipe end. Is that something offfical you can buy, or something they created??
Answer:
A regular portable air compressor will work just fine. You will also be able to use it to keep your tire pressures up to save energy. You didn't say what size the pool pipe is, so go to a hardware store and ask for an electrical CGB. Inside this electrical fitting is a tapered grommet. Buy the one with the O.D. bigger than your pipe, and the I.D. slightly smaller than the diameter of your blow nozzle. Slip the grommet on the blow nozzle, and force the grommet against your pipe. You will want to set the regulator on your compressor to approximately 40 pounds.Good luck!

Question : Where do I take an air compressor to get repaired?
I have an air compressor that can't build up any pressure. The pump runs, but the pressure stays near zero. I can't figure out where to take it for repairs. I've called a lawn mower shop, a pump repair shop, and an electrical repair shop. None of them work on air compressors. Any ideas?
Answer:
1 look in owners manual..they have service/repair places listed or # to call2 no book? yahoo/google search the neme brand3 phone book4 unless its a 500+ priced compressor its usually not worth repairing..

Question : Can I use my air compressor and a spray gun for the following paint jobs?
All interior work:I want to prime and latex paint some walls.I also want to finish oil painting the basement cement floor. The air compressor is an oiless 8 gallon 150 psi electric modelIt easily powers an impact gunhas a regulator knob and two gauges. The primer is the thickest of the liquids which I want to spray.I got a HVLP Spray GunIt has a 2.0 mm tip, All metal construction, and Brass Fan Nozzle with one quart dripless cup. Runs at 20 to 45 psi with 1/4 nps inlet. It has a Air Control, Spray Control, and Fluid Control for making adjustments.Any advice is appreciated.
Answer:
The HVLP is the way to go and I would keep the psi down to 30 or so to control the overspray. I also think that your 8 gallon tank is sufficient. It might work the compressor a little overtime because of the constaint drain of the sprayer, but for a one time deal I think will be fine. I'd do it. Good luck.

Question : How does this air tank/compressor work?
So I have a 15lb. air tank which has three spiky things that air comes out of or goes into and a pressure gague and a release lever. I need to make it into an air compressor to fire a cannon (theatre thing). I don't have any idea how to power this. There are no plugs or cords or anything! Help, I'm feeling like an idiot.Actually, this is for shooting fake blood across a stage.
Answer:
those tanks are filled at a station that services and rents them, most have heillium for balloons but some are compressed air. they hold a great deal of air. Try a party store for info

Question : What size air line to run for my air compressor?
I recently bought an air compressor to airate my sprinkler system. I have 1 acre of land. Do I use an air fitting with an 1/4 or 1/2 inlet. Also what size air line do I use. I might use it for my air impact tools. I was told not to use 1/2 inlet with my impact guns.
Answer:
Most air tools have a 1/4" inlet. This, along with 3/8" hose is sufficient for most applications including blowing out waterlines. Size of the tank will decide how much air you can put out over a certain period of time.
