Questions & Answers
Question : What is a reliable and QUIET portable air compressor?
I'm in need of an air compressor that just needs to run 3cfm.I'm in an apartment and would be running it for long hours, so I need a way to make it as quiet and as vibration free as possible. Thanks for your suggestions!
Answer:
Look under 'air compressors' in the yellow pages, and inquire about screw-type compressors.Actually, I just re-read your post, and 3 cfm is not much; is this for an air brush? Try art suppliers.

Question : How much/big of air compressor i need?
im planning on buying a air compressor. my main usage of the compressor will be for nail gun and impact wrench. whats a good/decent size compressor that can handle both?
Answer:
Just about any compressor can run a nail gun unless it's extremely large and you're running it continuously all day.For the impact wrench, pick out the one you want and look at the SCFM requirement (they should list this). Then get a compressor that is at least that on it's rating. HP numbers are highly inflated, as they plan word games with "peak HP". About the most you can get from a 120V circuit is 1.5 - 1.75 HP, but that doesn't stop the retailers from big HP numbers. SCFM should be more reliable.

Question : How can an air compressor be used as a pressure washer?
Hi, how can an air compressor be used as a pressure washer? I assume some sort of attachment with a place for a water hose to be attached? And where can I find such an attachment? Thanks in advance!

Question : What kind of air compressor should I be looking for?
I need to buy an air compressor for filling tires. I want something strong enough to deliver air quickly, like a shop air compressor, but not so large that it's unwieldy and high maintenance. What should i look for? Is it true some compressors can shoot out oil or moisture through the hose, and into the tire? The gas station that I go to can inflate tires about 1 psi a second on a 235/65 16 tire. I'd like to have something near this performance.
Answer:
you could go to home depot and get a little five gallon tank air comp that would probably do pretty good...good luck

Question : Air Compressor?
Thinking of buying a air compressor to run air guns like roofing nailers or framing nailers. Wondering if anyone had any ideas?
Answer:
There are many different types of air compressors out there. The more portable ones are only going to have a capacity of a few gallons. If you are running 1-2 guns you will probably be fine. If you are planning on using a lot of pneumatic tools at the same time you might want to step up to a 25 gallon or more. Not as portable, but you can set it up on a jobsite and run multiple lines off it. You can get one of those starting at 250 dollars depending on where you shop. You can get package deals that come with a nailer, but those are portables. I would get a compressor with a direct drive and go oilless. Easier to maintain, if you use it heavily, drain the water out of it daily.Tank capacity has everything to do with peformance. Try running a pneumatic drill with a portable air compressor for more than 5 seconds. If you look at the specs on your air tools it will tell you the minimum tank capacity required to operate your tools.

Question : What tools can i use with an air compressor?
Im getting an air compressor but i dont know much about them.....like what should of tools should i get. i dont know if i should get a 60 gallon tank or maybe something smaller.
Answer:
60 gallon??? Way too big for most things around the house. Somewhere between 2 and 5 is plenty if you are going to use nail guns or automotive tools. One thing I find to be awesome is a "palm nailer" which I use when nailing into tight places, like joist hangers on floor trusses. It's like a leather glove with a metal tube on the palm, you put the nail head first into the tube, and like a pneumatic joy buzzer it effortlessly pounds the nail into the hole of the joist hanger. It will nail it anywhere but that's where I find it most useful.

Question : I have a husky air compressor that will only build pressure to 60 psi but the motor keeps running?
My husky air compressor is probably 5 years old. When I turn it on it will only pressurize up to 60 psi but the motor keeps running until I shut it off manually. HELP!!!
Answer:
It sounds like the intake valves are bad. They are little spring loaded disc type check valves that are usually located in the top of the compressor head or the intake manifold. They are inexpensive and easy to replace. You can usually buy a kit that includes the discs, guides, springs and head gaskets if needed.
