Questions & Answers
Question : My Air Compressor releases cold and low pressure, how do I fix this?
I have a two stage IR STATIONARY AIR COMPRESSOR 13HP. When its cold at night the air compressor pressure goes very slow even when i release all the air and water in the condensation tank. The pressure that comes out of the air lines to move the air tool is so slow that the air tool does not move. How do i solve this problem when I am working in the cold weather.

Answer:
Check to see if your regulator is frozen or damaged. You can do this by taking it off, and connecting the hose with out it.

Question : What kind of Air Compressor do I need to remove lug nuts?
Hello,I want to invest of buying an Air Compressor to remove lug nuts of my car. What kind of Air Compressor, CFM, HP, how many gallons and PSI do I need? Also, do I need pneumatic or just air compressor does it make a difference? Thank you in advance.

Answer:
Not quite sure what your asking with the pneumatic thing? Pneumatic means filled with air, or using air.As far as a compressor that will remove lug nuts a 2 or 3 HP with a 20 or so gallon tank will work fine. You need to read what the gun you plan on using needs to work the best. Then buy a compressor that covers that and a little more. Most 1/2 drive impacts use between 60 and 90 PSI. As far as CFM they are all different, read the guns recommendations. Keep in mind you get what you pay for when it comes to impact guns. a $70 or $80 piece of crap is just that. Inexpensive and still has power to break rusted bolts lose is going to run in the $150 to $250.

Question : How many gallons does my air compressor need to be to blow out the sprinkler system for my yard?
I am buying a house on a 0.25acre lot and I have sprinklers in the front and back. I dont wanna buy an air compressor too small so Id rather someone be wrong high than low. Also if you could explain the process of doing it you would get a best answer right away!!!!

Answer:
something in the range of 40 gal, with a pressure of at least 200 lbs.

Question : what is wrong with my air compressor pressure switch?
I have a air compressor with a Furnas style switch with a bleed off valve. My compressor works fine until the set pressure is reached and the bleed off valve is opened. When this happens the bleed off valve bleeds off the pressure in the tank and the compressor cycles again over and over and over. is the bleed off valve bad or does it have a check valve before it? If its at all possible can I just put a cap where the bleed off valves hose runs to on the tank?

Answer:
Sound like you have a sticking pressure switch. You DON'T want to cap off the bleed line, as this could cause too much pressure to build up in your reservoir, possibly causing damage to your compressor or yourself. Your switch will be easy to replace, and not too expensive.

Question : Is there an alternative to bolting down a vertical air compressor?
I have a 80 gallon 2 stage air compressor. It is currently bolted down to the concrete garage floor. However, I will be moving into a house at the end of the month and the landlord does not want me drilling into the concrete floor. Is there an alternative to bolting down the compressor? Evidently bolting it down gives it structural support against the vibration. Any ideas?

Answer:
Yes, I bolted mine to a wooden palet, works greak for 7 years now.

Question : Can a 2000 watt generator run an air compressor?
I have a friend with a 2000 watt, 120 volt 16.7 amp generator. Can that run a 26 gallon 1.6 horsepower air compressor? The air compressor would need to constantly be running for about an hour.

Answer:
Check the nameplate on the compressor motor. I suspect with startup current factored in you may be approaching the capacity of the generator. If it is an inverter type generator it may not have the surge capacity to get the motor turning. A standard alternator output may accept the overload and manage to get things going. You may be able to reduce surge current by emptying the tank. Starting the motor with no pressure in the tank may allow you to make it work.

Question : How does this air tank/compressor work?
So I have a 15lb. air tank which has three spiky things that air comes out of or goes into and a pressure gague and a release lever. I need to make it into an air compressor to fire a cannon (theatre thing). I don't have any idea how to power this. There are no plugs or cords or anything! Help, I'm feeling like an idiot.Actually, this is for shooting fake blood across a stage.

Answer:
those tanks are filled at a station that services and rents them, most have heillium for balloons but some are compressed air. they hold a great deal of air. Try a party store for info

Question : What to do when the air compressor in a refrigerated air system doesn't work?
The compressor doesn't work outside, but there is hot air blowing inside. What would the cost be for replacing the air compressor? Would the entire unit have to be replaced?

Answer:
It will cost almost as replacing the whole a/c unit. The compressor is the most expensive part to replace on the a/c unit. The labor cost to replace is the highest. The refigerant must evacuated or removed by vacuum. Then the copper tubing must be cut for the refigerant to go through the compressor. Then it must be replaced mechanically and electrically. Then the copper tubing must be brazed, or heated almost to the melting point to seal in the solder to keep it sealed under high pressure. Then you need to have the refigerant readded to the system. If the compressor is old replace it. The newer compressors have a much higher seer or energy efficency rating. It will help save on electric bills.A new system will be much more reliable. And will come with a better warrenty.

Question : Can an air compressor be used for sandblasting and steam cleaning?
i want to get an air compressor that is fully functional around the house....help me out.

Answer:
You can use one for sandblasting, if you buy a large one. Sandblasting requires a high volume of air so the tank would need to be big and the motor capable of replacing the used air. Steam cleaners do not use air.

Question : Air compressor?
Is a 7 lb air compressor a good size compressor to have to for small projects around the house? I would use it for trim, blowing up tires, small projects around the house.

Answer:
I have a 6lb air compressor for my garage and use it for small projects. It works great so far. I suppose you can always buy a bigger one no matter which one you buy.I bought mine from this site. The husky one. http://www.safety-devices.com/husky6g.htm
